Colin Dolan

Colin Dolan currently holds the Chief Executive post within the UK’s first ever Mental Health Football Association.

Originating from Glasgow Colin spent time living in Ibiza and Madrid before he decided that Liverpool was to be his home.

Colin spent most of his working career within Sales and Management however due to an ongoing battle with bipolar he decided some years ago to move into an area that he would enjoy more and now has the pleasure of helping others to improve their lives, becoming a volunteer within the Homeless and Addiction sectors.

In 2012 Colin became a participant with Everton’s “Imagine Your Goals” mental health wellbeing programme which became the catalyst for so many positive achievements in his life.

Volunteering with Everton In The Community in 2013 inspired Colin to develop and launch the UK’s first and only Mental Health Football Association.

 

Colin has been recognised for his work receiving several awards;

2014 Sports Volunteer of The Year from Liverpool City Council

2015 Merseyside Sports Volunteer of The year from Merseyside Sports Partnership

2016 The Premier League’s Torch Trophy

2016 Ambassador for the World Health Innovation Summit

 

The Mental Health FA brings together like-minded people and organisations who believe in and adopt the use of football as a vehicle for both recovery and ongoing therapy for those affected by mental ill health.

Colin campaigns to end the stigma surrounding mental ill health and educate through public speaking around the UK.

Colin is a [me]united ambassador. Our ambassadors support the use of ‘Sport as Therapy’ for participants with mental health illnesses or for people who want to improve their mental well-being.
